Should I wear a facemask?

We recommend that people wear cloth face coverings when they are in public settings where they cannot maintain 6 feet of distance from others. There is no mandate that you must wear a face covering. It is considered an additional layer of protection. Wearing cloth face coverings will not prevent spread of COVID-19 without doing other protective measures, such as washing your hands and maintaining physical distance. This recommendation is for cloth face coverings only, not medical-grade masks or respirators.
